S erbia, a country of future, situated in the heart of the Balkans. At the crossroads between the Slavonic civilization and Central Europe, Serbia represents a palette of traditions and cultures unique in Europe. No less than 26 nationalities each of them preserving its customs and its folklore, but also four great religions are present here. With its mountains with the greenish prairies, its multiple water currents cutting their wedged in valleys and the beautiful mountains, Serbia is offering a large fan of sport and tourist activities. Kayak, skiing, rafting, trekking, speleology are among the most developed.

In the north, continental climate (cold winter and hot, humid summers with well-distributed rainfall); central portion, continental and Mediterranean climate; to the south, hot, dry summers and autumns and relatively cold winters with heavy snowfall inland.

Restricted items
Weapons and ammunition are prohibited, unless they are for hunting purposes and the hunt is organised by the Hunters Association of Serbia. Animals may be imported as long as there is proof of the health condition of the animal. Cats and dogs must have a vet certificate.

Health and safety

The preparation of medical and health staff is generally good.

Hospitals and out-patient clinics typically work 24 hours a day. Emergency medical service is available everywhere 24 hours a day. Medical emergency: Tel. 94 Pharmacies: Pharmacies are opened from 08.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m. on working days and on Saturdays from 08.00 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. Each city has a pharmacy that is open on Sundays and throughout the night.

SAFETY

You are advised to take normal, sensible precautions to avoid mugging, bag-snatching and pick-pocketing. Please be particularly careful on busy public transport, in train stations, markets and other places frequented by tourists.

Foreigners could be targeted by thieves. Four-wheel-drive and luxury vehicles are targeted by car thieves more than other models

Novi Sad, is the city in the Vojvodina, northern Serbian province, is placed on the banks of river Danube, next to the national park Fruška Gora.

Five Orthodox churches, Jewish synagogue and Catholic cathedral in the very heart of Novi Sad symbolize the multiculturalism of this city. As the second biggest city in Serbia, Novi Sad is becoming the main cultural center in country and bears the name Serbian Athens.

Novi Sad is a university city, a city of museums, galleries, libraries, theatres…It is a center of well developed journalistic and publishing industries and a city of fairs with many traditional and worldwide recognized international manifestations.
