By Air

Main Airport

The national airline is Cyprus Airways (CY) (website: www.cyprusairways.com). All flights to the north are via Turkey with Turkish Airlines (TK) (website: www.thy.com) or Cyprus Turkish Airlines (YK) (website: www.kthy.net). Tourists can also now fly into the south and travel across the border in Nicosia into the north.

Larnaca (LCA) (website: http://www.larnaca-airport.info/) is 5km (3 miles) south of Larnaca and 50km (31 miles) from Nicosia. To/from the airport:Taxis are available outside the airport terminal. Facilities: Duty-free shop, tourist information, bank/bureau de change, bars and restaurants, Cyprus Hotel Information and Reservation Office, car hire and post office.

Other airports:

Pafos (PFO)is 15km (9 miles) east of the city (journey time - 25 minutes). To/from the airport:Taxis are available outside the airport terminal. Facilities:Tourist information, duty-free shop, Cyprus Hotel Information, cafeteria and car hire.

Ercan (ECN) is 8km (5miles) east of Nicosia, in the north. To/from the airport:Hire cars, taxis and coaches are available outside the terminal. Facilities: Duty-free shops, tourist information, cafeterias and car hire.

By Sea

Main ports: Passenger ships from the ports of Limassol and Larnaca (website: www.cpa.gov.cy) connect Cyprus with various Greek and Middle Eastern ports, including Piraeus, Rhodes, Heraklion, Haifa, Port Said, Jounieh and many Greek islands. Services are reduced during the winter months.

For detailed information on ferry boats and shipping lines, contact the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. One-day cruises are organised from May to October, weather permitting. Several cruise lines call at Cyprus.

Note: Since 1974, the Cyprus government declared the ports of Famagusta (Ammochostos) and Kyrenia, and the airport of Ercan, all in the northern part of the island, as illegal ports of entry to Cyprus.

Business Visa

Business visa (short-stay visa) may be issued for one or several entries.
Visa requirements:


Application form signed by the applicant
2 passport sized photographs attached
A passport valid for at least three months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for.
The visa for the return country must be valid for at least three months beyond the period of intended stay.
Provisional Books or Itinerary of travel arrangements (Round trip ticket with fixed dates) is a must. Ticket should not be purchased before the visa is issued.
Prior Hotel Reservation faxed by the Hotel Manager.
An official letter of invitation from a Cyprus company must be presented.
Solid evidence that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the intended stay in Cyprus, e.g. a bank statement or travelers' cheques (credit cards can be accepted only in addition to bank statements and only with recent statement confirming credit limit. Please note that cash is not an acceptable proof).
A recent (less than one month old) official letter from the employer addressed to the Cyprus Consulate with proof of the applicants wages / salary. If self-employed, a letter from the solicitor, the accountant or the bank manager of the applicant. If a student in the country of the Consulate, an original letter from the school or University addressed to the Cyprus Consulate confirming the status / attendance and the duration of the course.
The Consulate may also ask for a copy of a Bank Guarantee Letter from the host, throughout a visitor's stay in Cyprus, so as to cover the possible cost of repatriation. Bank Guarantee Letters are issued for the amount of:
£500 for visitors from Sri Lanka, the Philippines, China, and other Asian countries
£300 for visitors from the CIS, and other Eastern Europe countries.
£200 for visitors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and other Middle East countries.

Customs

Free import to passengers arriving with goods purchased within the E.U. which are for personal use only:
1. tobacco products: 800 cigarettes; 400 cigarillos (max. 3g each); 200 cigars; 1kg smoking tobacco;
2. alcoholic beverages: 10 lt of spirits over 22%; 20 lt of alcoholic beverages less than 22%; 90 lt of wine (though no more than 60 lt of sparkling wine); 110 lt of beer.

Prohibited:
Products of animal origin, not originating from an EU member state, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland, are not permitted to be imported into an EU Member state, with the exception of limited amounts from Andorra, Croatia, the Faeroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and small amounts of specific products from other countries.
