Zagreb (Pleso International) (www.zagreb-airport.hr) is 17km (10 miles) southeast of the city.

To/from the airport: An airport bus runs to the city centre (journey time - 25 minutes); taxis are also available (journey time - 20 minutes).

By bus

There are regular international buses connecting Croatia with Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Germany, Hungary, Italy and the Slovak Republic. Eurolines (tel: 0870 514 3219, in the UK; www.eurolines.com runs regular coach services from the UK to Croatia.

By Train

Croatian Railways (tel: 060 333 444, within Croatia only; (www.hznet.hr) operates trains in Croatia. Direct trains run from Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland. Express services run from Zagreb to major cities including Berlin, Budapest, Munich, Venice and Vienna.

Rail Passes
InterRail: offers unlimited first- or second-class travel in up to 30 European countries for European residents of over six months with two pass options. The Global Pass allows travel for 22 days, one month, five days in 10 days or 10 days in 22 days across all countries. The One-Country Pass offers travel for three, four, six or eight days in one month in any of the countries except Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. Travel is not allowed in the passenger's country of residence. Travellers under 26 years receive a reduction. Children's tickets are reduced by about 50%. Supplements are required for some high-speed services, seat reservations and couchettes. Discounts are offered on Eurostar and some ferry routes. Available from Inter Rail (www.interrailnet.com).

Eurorail: the global Eurail pass offers unlimited train travel in 20 European countries including Croatia. Select (valid in 3, 4 or 5 countries bordering Croatia), regional (Croatia is grouped with Slovenia plus either Austria or Hungary) and one-country Eurail passes are also available. Tickets are valid for 15 days, 21 days, one month, two months or three months. The passes cannot be sold to residents of Europe (including Turkey and the Russian Federation). By Sea

Main ports: Split (www.portsplit.com), Dubrovnik (www.portdubrovnik.hr), Rijeka (www.lukarijeka.hr) and Zadar (www.port-authority-zadar.hr).

Passenger and car ferry services run to Italy. The main routes are: Split-Ancona, Zadar-Ancona and Dubrovnik-Bari. Throughout the summer, fast hydrofoil services also operate on some routes. Jadrolinija (tel: (051) 666 111; www.jadrolinija.hr is the main service provider.

Dubrovnik is an established cruise destination and the city is visited by hundreds of vessels and thousands of passengers each year. An increasing number of cruise ships also stop at Split.

Business Visa

For U.S. citizens, EU countries citizen, Citizen of Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro visa is not required for tourism or business purposes for a period of 90 days.

Visa requirements:

-aplication form ;
-valid travel document;
-the period of validity of the travel document should exceed that of the visa's by three months ;
-colour photo 35x45 mm; 
-supporting documents that prove:
-the purpose of the journey to the Republic of Croatia, 
-ensured accommodation, 
-means of subsistence to cover their stay in the Republic of Croatia and the return to their country of origin or to a third country have been provided, 
-means of transport and their intention to return to their country of origin or to a third country .

Customs

Customs regulations are in accordance with the standards of European Union countries. All personal goods: laguague, objects that are non commercial, resanable amount of cigarettes, alcohol, perfumes, medical products for personal use are exempted from paying customs. For certain kind of goods (national heritage, protected spices, plants and seeds) there are certificates or license requested. Dogs and cats, accompanied by their owner, need to have an International certificate from a registered veterinarian stating that at least 15 days and not more than six months have passed since their last vaccination against rabies. Foreign currency and cheques are freely brought in and taken out of the country; only quantities of money higher than 10.000EUR should be reported. Value added tax (PDV) in Croatia is 22%. Foreign citizens have right on tax refund for goods purchased in Croatia over  500 kuna in value with a valid "Tax cheque" at departure from the country.
